Dynamic compression of a model unidirectional composite

Abstract: The split Hopkinson pressure bar method is used to determine the diagrams for dynamic compression of model composite material (CM). The experimental dependences are compared with the calculated ones obtained by an earlier-formulated model of a viscoelastic composite. It is noted that the discrepancy between the experimental data on the averaged CM elasticity moduli can be explained by the inconsistency of deformations of the composite components.
