Abstract:
On the basis of the results of an experimental study of the dependence of the ignition delay period (IDP) of a kerosene–air mixture with an alkylnitrate additive on the initial temperature of the medium, we conclude that the promoting action of the additive involves the gradual preflame self-heating of individual sites in the mixture jet in the process of its development and is limited by the degree of preparedness of the fuel for reaction, which may be hindered by the conditions of impulsive mixture formation.
