Estimation of the parameters of metal plates propelled by the sliding detonation of charges of condensed explosives in the initial phase of the process
Abstract:
An experimental study was made of the propulsion of metal plates by the sliding detonation of an explosive charge during the initial stage of the process. It was found that the compressibility of the plate material might have a substantial effect on the dynamics of the propulsion process. A formula obtained to estimate propulsion parameters accounts for both the propulsive and the brisant properties of the explosive.
