Polymorphism and initiation of explosives

Abstract: Based on analysis of the interrelationship between the type of crystal structure of ionic compounds and the electron structure of the ions, a qualitative interpretation of the initiating effect of a polymorphous transformation that proceeds in this class of compounds under isothermal compression is given.
