Wave combustion modes of hafnium in nitrogen

Abstract: Wave combustion modes of hafnium in nitrogen are studied experimentally. The domains of existence and propagation velocities of the combustion waves are determined as functions of the initial temperature and pressure of the gas. An x-ray phase analsis is made of the initial and final states of samples which have been burnt in different modes and the results are compared with available theoretical and experimental data.
