Shock-wave synthesis of cubic silicon nitride

Abstract:
It is shown that shock-wave loading of a
$\beta$
-Si
$_3$
N
$_4$
/Cu powder mixture to a pressure of 53 GPa in plane recovery containers results in a nanodisperse cubic silicon nitride yield close to 100%.
