Shock-wave synthesis of cubic silicon nitride

Abstract: It is shown that shock-wave loading of a $\beta$-Si$_3$N$_4$/Cu powder mixture to a pressure of 53 GPa in plane recovery containers results in a nanodisperse cubic silicon nitride yield close to 100%.
