Abstract: Adequacy of experimental and mathematical models of combustion processes is analyzed. A four-level classification of adequacy of various models is proposed. Examples are given to characterize the degrees of adequacy of mathematical models and experimental concepts available in combustion science.

Keywords: combustion, mathematical models, adequacy of the model.
