Abstract:
In Udmurtia the possible contamination of natural objects by arsenic compounds is associated with the destruction of chemical weapons, as well as with the processing of the reaction mass after detoxification. Under laboratory conditions it has been studied the adsorption process of sodium arsenite in the most common soil types of the Udmurt Republic. The solution of various concentrations of sodium arsenite was added to the air-dry soil samples and the phases was stirred for several days until equilibrium is established. Contents of arsenite-ions in the soil filtrate determined by atomic absorption method by spectrophotometer "Shimadzu" AA-7000 with electrothermal atomization in the presence of a palladium modifier according to standard techniques It was found that under similar conditions the greatest absorbency has sod-weakly podzolic sandy soil, then — rendzina and sod-podzolic weakly eroded soil, least — gray forest soil. Adsorption process dominates at low concentrations of pollutant input. The equilibrium process is shifted toward desorption upon further increasing the amount of arsenic. It was found that increasing amounts of pollutant causes a sharp decrease in the degree of its absorption, which causes a high migration ability of arsenite-ion in natural objects.
