Abstract: The class of discrete plants is described whose initial description is specified as a matrix equation. Basic properties of these plants are described such as stability, controllability, and stabilizability. Advantages of matrix control algorithms over control algorithms represented as vector equations are shown in terms of both the number of arithmetic operations and the computer memory requirements.
