Vector method of design of sliding motion and simplex algorithms

Abstract: A multidimensional sliding mode is obtained by using a vectorial approach whereby the state space is divided into nonintersecting domains and a control vector is chosen in every domain so as to simplify the design of a sliding mode. Special attention is gi­ven to simplex design methods where a minimal number of domains and control vectors are employed. For the latter case two algorithms are proposed.
