Method for nonlinear identification of flight

Abstract: An identification method is studied which analytically extends the solution of the identification problem simultaneously for two parameters of which one is introduced for regularizing the errors in measuring the motion parameters and the other, for regularizing the errors in computing and the impact of poor observability of motion in the measurement set. The results are reported of trying the method in identifying the aerodynamic characteristics of a flying vehicle viewed as a solid body from measuring its free motion along a ballistic path.
