Abstract:
The notion is introduced of a block of a relational database, RDB, with a universal relationship which satisfies full join dependences. Necessary and cufficient conditions are obtained for existence of blocks, structural relationships between blocks and with RBD logical elements outside the blocks are analyzed, and the role that blocks have to play is demonstrated in automatic processing of user queries.
