Abstract: A method, realizable in the form of a program on the personal computer, for computing signal attenuation in the radio link taking the relief of the underlying surface and characteristics of the antenna assembly into account is proposed. The method is based on the principles of quantum electrodynamics that make it possible to compute probability amplitudes of hitting the receiver by photons emitted by the source. In computing, we take directional properties of the source and receiver and the influence of obstacles on photon propagation paths into consideration. Basic relations and computational algorithm are given. Examples of computing signal attenuation in different conditions are represented.
